Every 12 months the Trifecta year resets. New and returning Spartans alike can push themselves to complete all the core Spartan OCR disciplines, from 5K Sprint to half marathon Beast. Rarer Trifectas also exist; Sprint may be replaced with Stadion, and Beast with Ultra.
Around the world you’ll find special weekends where it’s possible to earn a Trifecta in a single weekend. This is a great time to meet people and take on a real challenge together. In 2021, a range of highly coveted medals will be released as part of new Trifecta Shield Weekends at select venues.
A small but growing group of Spartans are dedicated to testing their limits, and beyond. These battle-hardened athletes strive to earn more than one Trifecta, with some earning 3x, 5x, and even 20x in 12 months. Special swag awaits those who take on this feat.
Each year, new inductees are welcomed by a special ceremony at the Trifecta World Championship that recognizes those who have added to their “lifetime” Trifecta count. A huge array of awards are given out, and those who reach 50x and more have their names written down in history on the Trifecta Wall of Fame in the city centre of Sparta.
Everyone who earns a Trifecta qualifies for the next Trifecta World Championship, held each November in Sparta, Greece. But the real prize after you earn the Trifecta isn’t swag or a medal. Once you finish, you will become a part of the Trifecta Tribe. This tight-knit community of Trifecta finishers will have your back through thick and thin.
Once you earn a Trifecta, you’re ⅓ of the way towards a Spartan Delta. This elite reward is comprised of nine wedges earned across three pillars of the Spartan lifestyle:
Mind: Knowledge, selflessness and community. Centered around training, coaching and giving back to the Spartan community by helping others. Wedges can be earned at Workout Tour classes, by volunteering, or at other community events.
Body: Athleticism, strength and competition. This is the Trifecta, earned by completing 1 Stadion or Sprint, 1 Super and 1 Beast or Ultra before the Trifecta World Championship.
Spirit: Grueling tests of character and transformation through adversity. Spartan’s Endurance events are found here, including the Hurricane Heat and Agoge.
To earn a Trifecta, you must finish a Sprint or Stadion, Super, and Beast or Ultra in any order. You may also complete these races anywhere in the world. However, remember that you must finish all three races before November 5th, 2021. The new Trifecta year shall begin the day after the Trifecta World Championship (November 8th, 2021) and run through to the day before the 2022 Trifecta World Championship.
Absolutely, in fact it’s what will bring your mental and physical game to the next level. You do not need a Trifecta Pass to earn the Spartan Trifecta, though it’s encouraged as it’s a great way to set a goal and stick to it. You can purchase one here. Another worthy goal is to complete the rarer forms of Trifectas, such as Stadion, Super Beast or even Stadion, Super, Ultra. There’s special swag for 2x Trifecta earners and onwards, and in 2021 new Trifecta Shield Weekends will award unique medals and other collectables.
To earn a spot at the Trifecta World Championship in Sparta, you need to earn a Trifecta first. The qualification period for each Trifecta World Championship is an annual cycle that runs from one event to the next. In other words, to qualify for the 2021 Trifecta World Championship, you must earn a Trifecta from the Monday after the 2020 event to the Friday before the 2021 event. In that way, the qualifying period for the “TWC” differs from the Trifecta year, which is tied to the calendar year. Note that this system is new for the 2020/2021 season.
