Tips on how to drink more water

Ensuring you are drinking enough water is super important for your health. On average we should be drinking 2 litres of water a day. That’s the equivalent of 8 glasses/ 3 and a half pints/ 2000ml. I know ensuring you drink this much a day is never easy. So here are some tips to help you drink more water.

Use a water bottle

I find that I drink a lot more water when drinking from a water bottle. It could be because I think water bottles hold more water than glasses do but it is probably more to do with the fact, I’m too lazy to keep getting up to fill the glass up. But truthfully, I carry a bottle of water everywhere I go because I find if I have water on me, I will most likely drink it. Rather than waiting for when I feel thirsty to go and get a drink which by this point, I’m already dehydrated.

Keep track of how much you drink

When I put pen to paper and start writing down how much water I drink a day, I start holding myself accountable for what I drink. If I can see that I only drank two glasses of water, when my target is 8 it helps motivate me to drink more so that I can reach my goal.

Have a drink every time you eat.

Most people have 3 meals a day. Every time you sit down to have a meal, make sure you are having a glass of water as well. It is just as important to fuel your body with water as it is to fill it with food. By having a drink of water with every meal that is guaranteed to have you drinking at least 3 glasses a day.

Set reminders.

With the technology we have now a days there is no excuse to not drink water. Set reminders on your phone or ask a friend to remind you during your breaks to have a drink of water.

Drinking right when you wake up.

Forget looking at your phone, the first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning is have a glass of water. It just sets your day off right. You’ve spent all night asleep not drinking, it only makes sense for it to be the first thing you do when you wake up.
